The Ion Blast technology is one of the biggest steps ahead in the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) development. The worldwide patented method is utilizing electrical wind created by a doubled voltage level in comparison to conventional ESPs. This enables an increased distance between collection electrodes leading to the following advantages:
- Lower investment costs due to substantially lighter steel weight
- Simpler wide bodied structures that are much easier to maintain
- Reduced energy consumption
The cellular honeycomb structure is self supporting and the rigid discharge electrodes are in practice unbreakable. The rapping of the collection electrodes is carried out by pneumatic vibrators causing only a minimal stress to the structures. This will prolong the life time of the ESP. There are no moving parts inside the ESP exposed to the process conditions requiring maintenance and revamping.
The development and commercialization of Ion Blast ESP technology has taken over 15 years and more than a hundred reference deliveries have been successfully realized in various industries. There are both dry and semi-wet type Ion Blast ESP references e.g. in bio fuel plants and chemical industry.
With the long time experience and profound know-how of GEA Bischoff the Ion Blast ESP technology will be adapted not only to traditional ESP application areas, e.g. steel and glass industry, but also as a substitute to fabric filters.
Ion Blast ESP
